UK REACH Statement

Chemviron Activated Carbons

The principal aims of the REACH legislation (EC 1907/2006) are to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks of chemicals and to enhance the competitiveness of the chemical industry within the European Union.

Following Brexit (exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union) and its implementation on January 1, 2021, registered substances covered by REACH were no longer applicable for United Kingdom and a new registration process was applied under the name of UK REACH.

Chemviron, a Kuraray company and European Operations of Calgon Carbon, is fully committed to the UK REACH process, its principals and to the continuity of supply to our customers. Chemviron confirm that the EU REACH registration grandfathering in the UK REACH has been completed for Activated Carbon.

Substances of very high concern (SVHC) information for Activated Carbon

Substances that may have serious or irreversible effects on human health and the environment can be identified as substances of very high concern (SVHCs). Under REACH Regulation, if a substance is identified as an SVHC, it will be added to the Candidate List for eventual inclusion in the Authorisation List. Manufacturers are required to notify their customers of the presence of any Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) in their products exceeding 0.1% by weight and provide instructions on safe use of the product.

Based on the up-to-date Candidate list of SVHCs for Authorisation released by the European Chemicals Agency and based to our best knowledge, none of the substances included in the latest version (June 2023) of the Candidate List is present above the threshold concentration in the Activated Carbon supplied by Chemviron.
