Aujourd&#8217;hui, le charbon actif se pr\u00e9sente sous diverses formes et est employ\u00e9 dans de nombreuses applications, notamment le traitement de l&#8217;eau potable ou industrielle, de l&#8217;air, ainsi que dans les entreprises et chez les particuliers, pour \u00e9liminer les contaminants.<\/p><p>Le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chemviron.eu\/fr\/solutions-de-purification\/charbon-actif\/\">charbon actif<\/a> est un mat\u00e9riau hautement poreux qui \u00e9limine les compos\u00e9s organiques des liquides et des gaz par un processus connu sous le nom d&#8217;\u00ab adsorption \u00bb. <strong>L&#8217;adsorption<\/strong> est le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne par lequel les mol\u00e9cules organiques pr\u00e9sentes dans un liquide ou un gaz sont attir\u00e9es et adh\u00e8rent \u00e0 la surface du charbon actif, lorsque le liquide ou le gaz le traverse.<\/p><p>L&#8217;adsorption sur les charbons poreux a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crite d\u00e8s 1550 av. J.-C. dans un ancien papyrus \u00e9gyptien, puis par Hippocrate et Pline l&#8217;Ancien, principalement \u00e0 des fins m\u00e9dicinales. En fait, les arch\u00e9ologues ont d\u00e9couvert que la premi\u00e8re utilisation du charbon de bois pour le <strong>traitement de l&#8217;eau<\/strong> remonte \u00e0 environ 400 av. J.-C., principalement au sein des communaut\u00e9s maritimes. Les marins carbonisaient l&#8217;int\u00e9rieur des barils d&#8217;eau pour purifier et conserver l&#8217;eau pendant les longs voyages en mer.<\/p><p>Au XVIIIe si\u00e8cle, les charbons fabriqu\u00e9s \u00e0 partir de sang, de bois et d&#8217;animaux \u00e9taient utilis\u00e9s pour la purification des liquides.
