Dextrose and corn syrups are produced for food, soft drink, and candy sweetener products. Dextrose is also used as a feed stock for fermentation. It is often necessary to remove color, taste, and odor constituents as well as contaminants.
Sweeteners and sweetener products often require the removal of color contaminants and taste and odor compounds. Removal of these compounds and decolorization of the raw material are commonly accomplished by using activated carbon or ion exchange resins, separately or in conjunction with each other.
Granular activated carbon
Activated carbon is used for the removal of impurities, odors, and colors. Some of our Granular Activated Carbons (GAC) are specifically designed for excellent odor removal in bio-organic applications.
Reactivation services
Chemviron can offer safe and economical spent carbon handling and thermal reactivation in conjunction with fresh carbon supply and provide personnel and equipment to perform the carbon exchange on a turn-key basis.
Powered activated carbon
PAC can be used during batch processing to decolorize product.
Equipment
Chemviron can bundle the performance advantages of activated carbon with equipment (service or purchase) and related services, to provide a full turnkey solution for sweetener applications. Many times the equipment will be customized to fit the requirements of the application and customer site requirements.
